It is one of the college departments that aims to develop students' skills in urban planning and analysis, learning methodologies and ways of thinking, and meeting the needs of new and sustainable urban communities. The department has a clear impact on society, as some of its professors have held important positions in the public and private sectors. The department grants a bachelor's degree in one of the two specialized tracks, which are (urban planning and housing), where a set of courses are studied at the introductory or basic level to understand the basic principles of urban planning and the various theories that explain urban development and analyze the urban, economic, social and legislative dimensions affecting urban planning. After completing the study of basic planning sciences, students progress to study a set of specialized courses that serve the urban planning and housing tracks.
The department is divided into two branches:
Urban Planning Branch: covers the following scientific fields (Urban area planning - detailed planning - functionally specialized area planning - local community urban planning - urban development project management)
Housing Branch: covers some scientific fields such as (Residential area planning - housing models and categories - housing economics - housing policies and legislation).
