Seminar of the Minister of Housing and Utilities
In light of the new work policy by Prof. Dr Mohamed Refaat, Dean of the Faculty of Regional and Urban Planning, to promote full cooperation with all governmental and non-governmental bodies and institutions, his Excellency visited today Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, who is one of the sons of the Faculty (Batch 8).
The two parties discussed all means of cooperation in order to raise the level of graduates and work to inform them of all the requirements of the labour market, and accordingly it was agreed that the Minister would visit the college and deliver a public lecture that included the efforts of the Egyptian state in spatial development and means of joint cooperation with the college... The Dean of the Faculty of Regional and Urban Planning, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Refaat, witnessed the activities of celebrating the International Day of Geographic Information Systems at Cairo University, in the presence of the Vice Deans of the Faculty and representatives of ESRI North Africa Company.
In his opening speech, Mr. Dean of the Faculty welcomed the attendees and Prof. Dr. Tarek Abu Al-Saud gave a speech to introduce the purpose of the celebration and its importance to students and graduates of Cairo University in various specializations. He explained the importance of such events in preparing a new generation of Cairo University and college students capable of achieving the state’s vision. During the celebration, representatives of ESRI North Africa presented the latest technologies in the field of geographic information systems, the latest applications in the field of urban planning and smart cities from city engine and ArcGIS Urban, and integration with IOT systems in smart cities. This was then followed by a presentation by some students of the College of Regional and Urban Planning of a group of applied projects using various geographic information systems programs and the extent of their benefit in the field of urban planning to accomplish the required tasks with high accuracy and speed.
In conclusion, the Dean of the faculty praised the activities of celebrating the International Day of Geographic Information Systems and modern technologies that were presented by ESRI North Africa and the possibility of benefiting from them at the academic or administrative level for the benefit of the College and the University. He also praised the active participation of the attendees and their positive interaction with the presentations presented. He thanked ESRI North Africa Company for the cooperation and active participation in organizing the celebration at Cairo University.
