Signing a contract between GOPP and the Faculty of Urban and Regional Planning (Egypt's Planning House)
GOPP witnessed the signing of a contract by direct agreement with the Faculty of Urban and Regional Planning at Cairo University - the home of planning in Egypt - to outsource the work of updating the general strategic plans and urban frameworks for (83) villages In the presence of Dr. Maha Fahim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GOPP, Dr. Yasser Abdel Hamid Mahmoud Helmy, Deputy Chairman of the Authority for Planning and Urban Development Sector, and Prof. Mohamed Refaat, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Marwa Sebeweh, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Asoc. Prof. Heba Nabil, Director of the Faculty's Urban Research and Consultancy Centre, and Ms. Elham Kassem - Director General of the Office of the Chairman of GOPP.
Considering that the Faculty of Urban and Regional Planning is full of competencies in the field of planning and sustainable urban development, and its previous experience in many national and developmental projects at all levels in different Governorates.
In view of the radical changes in the urban, social, economic and environmental characteristics of the villages of Giza Governorate from the time of the adoption of the general strategic plans for these villages until now, and where modernisation is a mechanism to accommodate the new changes that occur in the urban agglomeration, and to ensure its suitability for economic, social, environmental and urban development and local conditions, the Authority wished to outsource the work of updating the plans General strategic plans and urban frameworks for (83) villages in Giza Governorate in the framework of the Authority's updating of the general strategic plans and urban frameworks for the most developed villages in the centres included in the second phase of the national project for the development of rural Egyptian villages ‘A Decent Life: Haya Karima’.
